Ideas to share my games
I want to make the games I create to be as accessible as possible so that people will get to play them and see what I’ve created. Ultimately, I will be relying on these as my portfolio, so getting this right matters hugely. To do this, I have two main ideas.
Switching to browser games, rather than downloadable games
At first I was uploading builds to itch.io that needed to be downloaded. I’ve now changed to uploading HTML 5 builds and making them playable in the browser. At this stage, browser games make the most sense. They’re the fastest, easiest route to someone having a working copy of the game on their computer and should work regardless if they’re on Windows, Mac or Linux.
Creating gameplay videos
I already have a youtube channel associated with this website, and I want to start making gameplay videos. I can voice over about the games and share a bit more about them. It’s also an easy way to demonstrate a complete play-through of the game. I’m still exploring how best to use the channel, but if it can add value I’ll keep creating and uploading – and this feels like it would add value to what I’m doing.
